One of a number of chambered tombs along the Heritage Trail on the Isle of Eday, the Braeside Chambered Cairn is a stalled or Orkney-Cromarty type cairn, which, although open, has its inner layout intact. The chamber, aligned north-south, has been exposed by an unrecorded excavation. In the body of the cairn to the north of the main chamber, at the end opposite from the passage, the slight remains of what may have possibly been a second chamber can be detected.
