 Dating from 3000 BC, Quoyness is a well-restored chambered cairn that is entered through a low narrow passage. Inside the cairn, the chamber is rectangular. The walls of the chamber are corbelled up to the ceiling which was originally capped by earth and which now has a roof window that lets light into the chamber. There are six small side chambers: two in each of the long walls and one in each of the short walls. In the floor in one corner is a stone-lined pit. When excavated, the remains of a dozen people were found beneath the floor.
